It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear sister, Carol Hiltermann, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Please keep her husband Ottmar, their sons Tim and Mark, and their families in your prayers during this difficult time.

Carol Hiltermann (nee Mortimer) was born in the small village of Batley, Yorkshire England. The eldest girl of five children. When she was 13, her parents decided to move to Canada and settled in London, Ontario.
In 1968, she and a friend decided to take an adventure together to Calgary, thinking they would return to Ontario in a year. As it ended up, a certain young man came into Carol’s life, and her plans to return to Ontario were abandoned. Two years later, Carol and Ottmar married and eventually bought a house on the southwest edge of Calgary - Oakridge. Carol and Ottmar had two sons.
In the late 1970’s, shortly after SCCC was built in Cedarbrae, they took a walk through the neighborhood and went by the church. Being so close to home, they decided to check it out. They became regulars and deepened their relationship with God here. Carol was a long-time member of the choir.
Once the kids were older, Carol went to work at Mount Royal College from the late 1980’s until her retirement in 2008.
After retirement, Carol was the first to connect with our SCCC Seniors group by joining the doll knitters. After some persistent invitations from the knitters to come to our luncheons, they decided to give them a try, and have been a part of our group ever since.
Carol passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She is survived by her husband Ottmar, and their sons Tim and Mark and their families.
