What a blessing! On November 21st, our church hosted a wonderful community dinner, welcoming 23 neighbors into the warmth of fellowship, food, and conversation. Despite the cold weather, the evening was filled with joy, connection, and opportunities to share God’s love. Thanks to your prayers and support, this event continues to deepen relationships and plant seeds of faith in our community. Here’s a recap of the evening and the heartwarming stories that emerged.
Hi friends,
I would like to thank all those who volunteered and prayed for the community dinner held on November 21st. We had a lively 23 neighbours join us for a delicious dinner and outstanding SCCC hospitality in the church basement. Unfortunately, we think the cold weather hampered attendance this time.
Mary and her team cooked a tasty chicken dinner with green beans, rice and a salad, followed by an epic apple strudel! Food was brought to the tables to be served family style to allow more engagement with our guests. There was a beautiful sound of voices and excitement in the basement as people chatted and got to know each other. We had some returning guests from previous dinners which allowed further development of relationship and more intimate conversation.
We used the opportunity to advertise the seniors lunch, carol singing and Christmas Eve service.
Here are some responses from our ”getting to know you” feedback cards:
“First of all what a lovely dinner. The dinner was great and that lovely desert put the icing on the whole evening. Sat with Sharon she was delightful."
She will also be coming to the seniors dinner with a few of her friends!
“The fellowship is wonderful”
A Mom with young children said to me that she was thrilled not to have to cook and that she was able to use the time to thoroughly clean her kitchen instead for a change!
Another guest left her email address indicating that she would like follow up from the church. Communication has been started.
The Missons team would like to thank all those who prepared the basement, set the tables, prepared, cooked and served food. Greeted and hosted our guests. Coloured with the children, and cleaned up the kitchen and basement.
This community outreach can only happen with such amazing teamwork and a lot of prayer.
Please continue to pray for our neighbours and the encounters you had with our guests, so that they come to know our Lord. Donations to cover costs are still welcomed.
